Meet the Doctor

Dr. Scott Phelps grew up in Mesa, Arizona.  He loves this state, and his family has called the East Valley home for six generations.  After serving as a full-time missionary in Southern California, he attended Arizona State University, where he earned a BSE in biomedical engineering.  He discovered dentistry was a perfect blend for his passion in technology and individualized patient care.  He became a Doctor of Dental Medicine after studying four additional years at A.T. Still University in Mesa.

Following graduation, he served his patients four years in rural North Central Wisconsin where he worked for a large health system and participated as a member of the National Health Service Corps Bureau of Health Workforce.  While difficult to move away from so many friends and terrific colleagues, he decided Wisconsin winters were too cold for an Arizonan and chose to return home to the East Valley.

Dr. Phelps is passionate about learning. He has averaged over 300% more continuing education each year than is required to maintain an active license.  Some of the professional awards and organizations he has been involved with include:

Outstanding Achievement in Operative Dentistry from Academy of Operative Dentistry, Excellence in education and advocacy from AZ Academy of General Dentistry, Spear Education, The Dr. Dick Barnes Group, Christensen International Study Club, American Dental Association, Wisconsin Dental Association, Arizona Dental Association, Academy of General Dentists (he is FAGD eligible), Ensign Academy of Dentistry, Jamison Spencer Study Club, American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine.

Most of his time away from work is invested in his family.  He married Ashley in 2012 and they are the happy parents of terrific daughters. When he is not in the office, he enjoys tinkering with CAD-CAM software, running, vocal performance, fly fishing, camping, hiking, and spending time with his large extended family. He signs up for a long-distance race every year to keep himself physically accountable and is committed to refining his pickleball skills.
